Before, during and after

Your questions, answered.

Your appointment and plan

Who carries out my assessment?

Dr. Carlos Miguel Delgado, a general physician and surgeon with a master’s degree in Aesthetic Medicine, 14 years of experience and a focus on collagen biostimulators and regenerative aesthetic medicine. Care is available in Spanish and English.

How much does a consultation cost, and how much time should I allow?

The assessment lasts approximately 30 minutes and costs COP 120,000, credited toward your procedure. If you wish to consider same-day treatment, allow 1 to 1.5 hours for the full visit. Please arrive 15 minutes early for entry to Q Office and check-in.

Can I have my treatment on the same day?

Yes, when medically appropriate and a slot is available. Mention this when booking: the decision is made after reviewing your history, expectations and options.

How do I book or change my appointment?

Message us on WhatsApp at +57 301 221 1288. We will explain availability and the booking process. If you cannot attend, please give at least 24 hours’ notice.

Where does the doctor see patients?

Exclusively at Q Office, Calle 2 #20-50, El Poblado, Medellín. By appointment, with care in Spanish and English.

Before your procedure

How should I prepare?

Ideally, arrive with a clean face and no makeup; otherwise, we will cleanse your skin before treatment. The practice advises avoiding alcohol for 24 hours beforehand and reporting any changes in your health.

Should I stop aspirin, blood thinners or other medications?

Do not stop prescribed medication on your own. Tell the doctor about aspirin, blood thinners, ibuprofen, naproxen, other anti-inflammatory medications and supplements. Some increase bruising: any change requires authorization from the prescribing doctor. For nonessential medications, ask whether you should avoid them before treatment.

What medical history should I share?

Report medical conditions, allergies, medications, pregnancy or breastfeeding, a tendency to develop abnormal scars and episodes of herpes. Also mention previous injectables or procedures, including the areas and dates, even if performed elsewhere.

Can I exercise before my appointment?

According to the practice’s guidance, you may do your usual exercise before attending if you feel well. This differs from exercise after treatment: confirm that day’s restrictions with the doctor.

When should treatment be postponed?

Let us know if you have a fever, infection, active herpes, lesions in the treatment area or a recent illness. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with certain medical conditions, it may be preferable to postpone aesthetic procedures. The doctor will assess your case.

Results, discomfort and recovery

What is the difference between Botox, biostimulators and skinboosters?

Botulinum toxin acts on muscle activity to soften expression lines. Biostimulators such as Sculptra and Radiesse address collagen and support, depending on the case. Skinboosters focus on hydration and skin quality. They are not interchangeable; your assessment determines what you need.

Will I look overdone or lose my expression?

The doctor’s approach prioritizes natural-looking results, proportion and skin quality. An individual plan is proposed after discussing the changes you want. No procedure can guarantee an exact result; reviewing expectations is part of the assessment.

Does treatment hurt?

Discomfort depends on the procedure, area and your sensitivity. When appropriate, topical or local anesthesia and comfort measures are used. Tell us about any discomfort during the session; a pain-free procedure is not guaranteed.

Will I have swelling or bruising?

Temporary swelling, tenderness, redness or bruising may occur. Some people resume their usual activities that day, but recovery varies. Tell us about upcoming travel or an important event so we can plan with enough time.

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

This depends on the treatment: botulinum toxin takes effect progressively, and biostimulation also takes time. Initial swelling is not the final result. The doctor will explain progress, follow-up and the possible need for additional sessions.

Can I combine treatments?

In some cases, yes, if medically appropriate. The doctor decides whether to combine them in one visit or schedule them separately. You do not need to choose a package or several procedures before your consultation.

Aftercare and safety

What should I avoid afterward?

As general practice guidance, avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours, and pools, saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs for the first 24–48 hours. Avoid intense sun exposure during the first few days. These guidelines are adjusted to your procedure and do not replace individual instructions.

Should I massage the area?

Do not massage or manipulate treated areas on your own. Some biostimulators have specific massage instructions, while other treatments require avoiding it. Follow only the technique and frequency prescribed by the doctor.

How are risks reduced?

Safety begins with a medical assessment, review of your history and treatment selection. The approach includes anatomical planning, hygiene measures, an explanation of benefits and risks, personalized aftercare and follow-up guidance. These measures aim to reduce risks, not eliminate them.

What does using premium products mean?

The practice uses recognized aesthetic medicine brands such as Sculptra, Radiesse, Botox, Belotero and Restylane when appropriate. Selection depends on the product’s characteristics and your skin’s needs. A premium brand does not make a procedure risk-free: assessment, technique and follow-up also matter. You can ask which product is proposed for your case.

What does quality care include?

Listening to your goals, explaining alternatives and costs, answering questions before you decide and providing aftercare instructions. It also means recognizing when a procedure is unsuitable and guiding follow-up according to your progress.

Which symptoms require urgent care?

After an injectable, severe or increasing pain, very pale skin or unusual patches, or vision changes require immediate assessment. If you experience vision loss, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or neurological symptoms, seek emergency care without waiting for a WhatsApp reply. Also inform the doctor. Fever or increasing redness requires prompt medical advice.
